Product Description
Silent Lives: Classic Screen Moments encompasses the years 1903 to 1929. The clips range from the dramatic to the comedic, and feature some of the greatest stars in their most memorable roles. Each segment has been fitted with an evocative musical score; there is also a commentary track by film historian and author Lon Davis. Included on this disc are highlights from The Great Train Robbery (Edwin S. Porter, 1903), The Impossible Voyage (Georges Mlis, 1904), Intolerance (D.W. Griffith, 1916), The Immigrant (Charles Chaplin, 1917), The Mark of Zorro (Fred Niblo, 1920), The Ropin Fool (Clarence Badger, 1922), The Phantom of the Opera (Rupert Julian, 1925), and Steamboat Bill, Jr. (Charles F. Reisner, 1928), and many more. This is a great introduction to the world of silent film.

The majority of clips have been furnished by Alex Bartosh of A-1 Video (www.a-1video.com). The footage from Girl Shy is courtesy of The Harold Lloyd estate (www.haroldlloyd.com).
